The Argentine government will send a bill to reform the Penal Code to Congress. This was announced by the Chief of Staff, Manuel Adorni, and the outgoing Minister of Security, Patricia Bullrich. They confirmed that the initiative will be part of the extraordinary session's agenda. At a press conference at the Casa Rosada, Adorni praised Patricia Bullrich's "enormous contribution to restoring order." He stated that "when she took office, Argentina was mired in a genuine bloodbath, picketers owned the streets, and cities like Rosario were liberated zones for narco-terrorists." The proposed bill aims to increase penalties for serious crimes such as homicide, robbery, drug trafficking, child pornography, and human trafficking. It also eliminates the statute of limitations in cases of sexual abuse and aggravated homicide. "Today we are taking a very important step by sending the new Penal Code to Congress," affirmed Amerio. "We came with this reform to put an end to years of governments that defended criminals," he emphasized. "We defend the victims," noted the Undersecretary of Justice, Sebastián Amerio.
